Goa: Mumbai-Margao interstate luxury tourist bus overturns at Borim circle near Ponda

PONDA: An inter-state luxury tourist passenger bus from Mumbai to Margao overturned at the Bythokhol Borim circle today.

Fortunately, most of the passengers had got down at Mapusa and Panaji and there were only four passengers in the bus when the accident occurred. One passenger was trapped in bus and was rescued by fire brigade personnel.

The incident took place at 2 pm in the afternoon. Locals said this is the fifth such incident at the Bythokhol Borim circle.

The fruit and vegetable vendors who have kiosks and also sit on the road selling their wares, luckily escaped as all of them had gone for lunch.

The locals alleged that the bus was carrying cargo on the top and it fell on one of the gadda (kiosks) at the roadside.

One parked scooter was also damaged after bus fell on it. The driver fled the scene after the accident, eye-witnesses said.
