Goa Breaking: New Delhi Approves In-principle Congress, Goa Forward Party Poll Alliance
NEW DELHI: After the dramatic entry of the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) into Goa and the switching of senior leader and former CM Luizinho Faleiro to the TMC, it is learnt that the Congress High Command in Delhi has “in principle” approved of a poll alliance with the Goa Forward Party (GFP). A team of two senior leaders and AICC members has been set up to work out the nitty-gritty of the alliance.
Sources said Rahul Gandhi has instructed senior Congress election observer for Goa P Chidambaram to look into the possibly of tie-ups with the GFP and like-minded parties in the next few days and finalize it.
Several leaders have been pushing for a Congress alliance in Goa and the same is likely to be announced after Dussehra 2021.
Vijai Sardesai, the boss-man of the GFP and a former Congressman, who has been vitriolic of his condemnation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) over the last few months has been pushing for an alliance with the Congress and like-minded parties in Goa to take on the BJP ruling dispensation.
Barring Goa Congress Pradesh President Girish Chodankar, even Congress Leader of the Opposition (LoP) Digambar Kamat is pushing for an alliance to take on the combined might of the other parties.
It is likely that the MGP (Maharasthrawadi Gomantak Party) could also join the alliance to take on the BJP and AAP (Aam Aadmi Party).
This is a developing story. More details are awaited.
