Delhi CM Kejriwal welcomes Utpal Parrikar to join AAP
PANAJI: Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal who is on the election campaign trail in Goa, today said that he had great respect for former Goa CM, late Manohar Parrikar and welcomes his son Utpal Parrikar to join his Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Parrikar has been trying to secure for himself a BJP ticket, but senior party leaders have snubbed his candidature on the ground that he has not been active among the people.
A few days earlier, Goa BJP desk-in-charge Devendra Fadnavis said it won’t matter whose son you are. The party does not give tickets based on the name of one’s father (referring to Manohar Parrikar). Every leader has to work to earn the ticket, Fadnavis said in a direct snub at Utpal Parrikar.
Now, Kejriwal has welcomed Utpal Parrikar with open arms in the Aam Aadmi Party.
While Utpal has decided to contest independent in Panaji as he is now clear the BJP does not want to give him a ticket, it remains to be seen if he will contest on any party banner.
Both the AAP and the TMC are trying to woo him to join them.
