As WB CM, Banerjee must worry about unemployment, sexual crimes in her own state, not Goa: Darshana Saxena
PANAJI: Condemning West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s comments regarding unemployment and crimes against women in Goa, social worker and entrepreneur Darshana Saxena said, the West Bengal CM must worry about her own state and not poke her nose into other states.
“There is so much unemployment in West Bengal. In fact, WB is the among the top ten states in India when it comes to unemployment. Thousands of people die due to starvation each year in West Bengal. Crimes against women are at a all-time high. Mamata Banerjee must focus on her own state and not worry about Goa,” said Saxena, denouncing the stance of the All India Trinamool Congress to blame other state governments, without looking at their own failings.
Meanwhile, Tennis star Leander Paes joined the Trinamool Congress, becoming the third celebrity – after actress Nafisa Ali and activist Mrinalini Deshprabhu – to join the party today as it looks to gain ground in the coastal state ahead of the 2022 Assembly Election.
Paes was welcomed to the party by party chief and Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Panaji.
“Now I have retired from tennis. I want to serve the people through the vehicle of politics…..to make a difference to country. Didi (Mamata Banerjee) is a true champion,” Paes, 48, said.
Earlier Bollywood actress Nafisa Ali and activist Mrinalini Deshprabhu joined the Trinamool, also in the presence of Banerjee.
