KOLKATA: Nationalist Congress Party Benaulim (South Goa) MLA Churchill Alemao denied rumors that he was joining the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC) tomorrow.

When queried about his visit to Kolkata today (Monday) with daughter Valanka Alemao, Churchill retorted that he was in Kolkata for his personal work. He denied meeting Mamata Banerjee or any senior TMC leader today.

When asked if he would be joining the TMC at a later date, Alemao quipped in his inimitable style, “who told you I am joining the TMC, nothing is finalized. Don’t listen to rumors. People may say whatever they want. I have not decided on anything yet.”

For the last few days, rumor has been doing the rounds in political circles in Goa that Churchill was joining the TMC, as there was no response from the Congress witb regard to an alliance. When Churchill reached Kolkata today, the rumor mills went into overdrive. In spite of Churchill’s clarifications, political observers in Goa do not believe Alemao’s statements and opine that something is cooking between the TMC and the Alemaos.
