Kiran Kandolkar joins TMC, had quit GFP over Aldona seat, Cong alliance
PANAJI: Former Goa Forward Party (GFP) working president Kiran Kandolkar who quit the party on Saturday morning, in protest against a possible alliance with the Congress in the upcoming Assembly polls, will join the All India Trinamool Congress party today afternoon.
Sources said Kandolkar’s induction into the TMC is scheduled for 3.30 pm on Saturday afternoon. He will join the TMC with his wife and followers.
Kandolkar, a former BJP MLA who had joined GFP in 2020, said the Congress will ditch the Vijai Sardessai-led party at the last minute. He was upset that the GFP was willing to give the Aldona seat to the Congress. He had started work in Aldona since the last one year, he claimed.
Kandolkar quit the Bharatiya Janata Party and joined the GFP last year and stated that he was assured of two seats or tickets – Thivim and Aldona, both in North Goa.
The TMC has promised Kandolkar the two seats of Thivim and Aldona, sources said.
Sources told this reporter that while in the GFP, Kandolkar was pushing for an alliance with the TMC and was even ready to merge the GFP with the TMC, thus loosing its local and regional identity.
The final nail in the coffin was when the GFP agreed to give the Congress the Aldona seat, an option Kandolkar was not ready to compromise on. Read More Here
