Goa Polls: St Cruz activist Arturo D’souza, 3 others to join TMC today

PANAJI: The All India Trinamool Congress (AITC) membership drive in Goa has gathered steam and a well-known activist and environmentalist from St Cruz constituency in North Goa, Arturo D’souza, along with some supporters and other prominent local leaders are slated to join the party today afternoon at Panjim.

One more prominent woman leader from North Goa was scheduled to join the TMC today, but due to ill-health will be joining the party next week, party sources told this reporter.

Over the next 10 days, at least 15 to 25 prominent Goans are slated to join the TMC, party sources said.

Speaking exclusively to this reporter on telephone from St Cruz, D’souza said the TMC means business. “They are putting their money where their mouth is. Nobody would spend huge sums of money if they were not serious. Goans need an alternative, an option in politics and the TMC is offering a them a new beginning or a new dawn.”

A prominent leader and former Goa MLA is also expected to join the party in the near future. The TMC is keen on contesting all 40 seats and is making preparations for a high-voltage campaign as election day nears.
