Madhuri Sangita Patil’s film runs into rough weather on Indo-Pak border
NEW DELHI: Well-known actor and art model Madhuri Sangita Patil was threatened by residents of Munabao, a village on the Indo-Pak border where she was shooting for a Festival Film on sex slavery in Afghanistan and other Arab nations along with another Bollywood actress.
Munabao is a bordering village, just 125 km from Barmer city in the Barmer district in Rajasthan, India. It shares the border with Pakistan. It is one of the designated border crossings between the two nations, where a daily beating the retreat border ceremony is held and is a known tourist spot as well for those who like to see the Rajasthan village life.
There is also a lot of illegal cross-border smuggling activity taking place in the vicinity of the village and security agencies from both countries are always on high alert.
Madhuri Sangita Patil was shooting for the film in some bold attire when a group of about 50 persons gathered and forced the film unit to halt the shooting. The unit had to pack up and leave in a hurry as the mob threatened to burn up the equipment if they did not leave at once. They even summoned the cops, who arrived in time and avoided a clash.
A source claimed that a tent was erected and Madhuri Sangita Patil was almost nude along with the other actress during a lesbian shoot and rape sequence, an act which angered the locals who called more people from the village.
An argument took place between the unit crew and the local villagers who gave them 15 minutes to pack up and leave the place or threatened to burn down the entire unit.
All the actors and unit hands are safe and were shifted to their hotel about 130 kms away under police protection.
