PANAJI: Bollywood actor Priya Soni who was shooting in Goa for an ad film on Thursday, suffered a stroke – caused by insufficient nutrition, exertion and very hot weather and fainted on the sets, her management informed this reporter.

She was shooting outdoors at a resort in South Goa, her manager Sujeet Fernandes said. The name and exact location of the resort was undisclosed due to security reasons.

Priya was rushed to a local clinic where she is undergoing treatment. Her condition is now stable and she is recovering. She was provided nutrition via an IV drip, when first admitted at the private clinic.

Doctors attending to her said that the stroke was caused by continuous exertion and hot weather – she was shooting continuously for nearly 7 hours without any rest break as her co-actor had to leave for Mumbai on the same day.

The previous day too, Priya and her team had a serious of strenuous dance rehearsals and action scenes, which added to the exertion and in the hot weather, she failed to drink enough liquids and water, Fernandes said.

Priya has featured in more than 100 music videos, including Punjabi, Tamil, Kannada, Bhojpuri and Hindi and has worked with most popular singers in the country.

She recently shot for a Punjabi music video sung by a Canadian NRI rapper which will be released next month.

She has also done 4-5 South films, including Tamil and Malayalam projects.

She will be discharged from the clinic and will leave for Mumbai on Friday late evening, Fernandes informed.
