Actor Sonya Leanne Singh set to make her Punjabi debut next year

MUMBAI: Chennai-based, film production and talent management company Vrindaavan Films, through their talent management wing – Vrindaavan Talent Management has signed on Vadodara-born model and Ms Gujarat Teen India Online Sonya Leanne Singh in a three-film contract, for Punjabi, Tamil and Marathi films, the company said in a release.

Speaking to this reporter, Sonya Leanne Singh said, “I have been doing television for the last 2-3 years and have done episodic roles in CID, Hunted Nights, Crime Patrol, Savdhan India, Police Diary, Tarak Mehta ka Ooltah Chashmah, Zee Horror Show, Naagin and regional projects like Jai Jagni Ma Durga, Jai Bajrang Bali and many others over the last three years. I am thrilled to be part of the new film which will go on floor soon.”

She started acting and modeling at the young age of 16 and has also done Bhojpuri films and is a known face in the south-Indian movie circuit as well as an item dancer in Tamil and Telugu films.

Speaking to this website on the phone from Vadodara where she is currently visiting her family, Sonya said, “She will also participate in the Ms Teen India Pageant and is working hard for the finale in March.”

Out of the three films, the second project is a Tamil film based on terrorist Ajmal Kasab’s life. Sonya Leanne Singh will play the main lead as a Pakistani girl who narrates the life of Ajmal Kasab. From a shy, religious lad to a fanatic terrorist, driven by hate and fuelled by religious fanaticism the film tentatively titled “The Making of a Terrorist” is an almost-true story of Kasab’s life which led to his hanging.

The film is produced by the Chennai-based Vrindaavan Tele Films in association with the Mumbai-based Red Ruby Films and will be dubbed in Hindi and Kannada.

An official Media Release from the Chennai-based production and casting house Vridaavan Tele Films confirmed that Sonya Leanne Singh has been signed in a three film two-year Talent Management contract.

Accordingly, the talent management arm of Vrindaavan Films – Vrindaavan Talent Management will exclusively handle all modelling, acting and allied work and assignments for the bubbly 21-year-old. She will also shoot for the films with the production house over a 2-year period.

Vrindaavan Films produces and distributes medium-budget Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Gujarati, Bengali and other regional language movies in the Southern and Western territories of India.
