How much would you be willing to shell out for a designer hoodie? What about a designer hoodie with Totoro embroidered on it?

In a surprise Boxing Day announcement, fashion house Loewe has revealed a new collection based on Hayao Miyazaki’s 1988 masterpiece, ‘My Neighbor Totoro’.

The range, which drops on January 8, includes a line of bags, T-shirts, hoodies and leather accessories with emblems of beloved characters including Chu-Totoro, Chibi-Totoro and the infamous soot sprites known as Makkuro-Kurosuke.

According to Dazed, Loewe’s fashion director Jonathan Anderson said the clothing and accessories are all designed to provide a sense of safety and solace.

Nothing says ‘comfort’ like cosying up in a Ghibli-inspired jumper, but to do so you might end up spending more than you bargained for.

A knitted sweater with Totoro perched in a tree is priced at ¥199,000, whereas a leather drawstring Totoro bag goes for ¥307,000.

If you’re undeterred by the eye-watering prices, you can grab the designer merchandise – or just get a closer look at it – in Loewe stores or online from January 8.
