Chinese Embassy gave Rs 1.35 crore to Rajiv Gandhi Foundation: Amit Shah
NEW DELHI, (ANI): Following the disruption of Question Hour in Lok Sabha on Tuesday, Union Home Minister alleged that the Congress MPs wanted to avoid questions about the cancellation of Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FRCA) licence to the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, which he alleged had received money from Chinese Embassy.
Addressing reporters outside Parliament House today, Shah said the Opposition had created a ruckus during Question Hour by raising the issue of the December 9 clash between Indian and Chinese soldiers in Arunachal Pradesh’s Tawang sector. Proceedings of the house were adjourned till 12 noon due to the uproar.
Shah alleged that Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF) has accepted Rs 1.35 crore from the Chinese Embassy during 2005-2007. Shah pointed out that the Home Ministry had imposed sanctions on the RGF as it violated the regulations of the ministry and added that if Congress had allowed him in the Parliament, he would have disclosed the illegal activities of the party.
“The opposition raised the issue of India-China face-off to avoid question being raised in Lok Sabha on FCRA violation by the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation,” Shah said.
Meanwhile, reacting to Shah’s allegation, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, said that is no relation to it (Rajiv Gandhi Foundation FCRA licence cancellation issue). “If it’s our fault then hang us,” Kharge said.
Talking to reporters early this morning, Amit Shah said: “I saw the question hour list and after seeing question number 5, I understood the anxiety (of Congress). The question was regarding the cancellation of the FCRA licence of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation” the union minister said.
“If they would have allowed I would have given an answer in Parliament that Rajiv Gandhi Foundation during 2005-2007 had received grant of Rs 1.35 crore, which was not appropriate as per FCRA rules. So as per the rules, Home Ministry cancelled its registration,” he said. The home minister said that Rajiv Gandhi Foundation lost its FCRA licence for one more reason.
“Islamic Research Foundation whose chief is Zakir Naik also gave Rs 50 lakhs to the foundation on July 7, 2011. I want to ask the members of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, who are the members of the Congress Party, why did Zakir Naik gave you these funds. The country’s public deserves an explanation on this.”
The union Home Minister condemned the uproar by Opposition members in Parliament and said “Today in Lok Sabha Opposition, specifically Congress did not allow Question Hour to run. I condemn this act. Parliamentary Affairs Minister clearly said that at 12’o clock the Defence Minister will make a statement on this (Tawang faceoff) in the Parliament.”
“I want to say, it is the government of the BJP, Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister and till the BJP government is in power we will not allow anyone to capture even an inch of land. I laud the bravery displayed by our soldiers” he said.
Earlier on December 7, Minister of state for Home affairs Nityanand Rai told Rajya Sabha that the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA) license of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF) was cancelled under section 14 of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act. “The FCRA license of the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation (RGF) was cancelled under section 14 of the Foreign Contribution (Regulation) Act, 2010 (FCRA, 2010) due to violation of provisions under section 11 and conditions of registration under section 12(4)(a)(vi) of the FCRA, 201,” told MoS Nityanand Rai to Rajya Sabha.
Rai said that the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust (RGCT) license was cancelled under section 14 of the FCRA. “The FCRA license of the Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust (RGCT) was cancelled under section 14 of the FCRA, 2010 due to violation of provisions under sections 8(1)(a), 11, 17, 18, 19 and conditions of registration under section 12(4)(a)(vi) of the FCRA, 2010,” said MoS Nityanand Rai.
Rai also said that the association whose FCRA registration has been cancelled in terms of provisions under section 14 of the FCRA, 2010 shall not be eligible for registration or grant of prior permission for a period of three years from the date of cancellation of registration.
“In terms of provisions under section 14(3) of the FCRA, 2010, the association whose FCRA registration has been cancelled in terms of provisions under section 14 of the FCRA, 2010 shall not be eligible for registration or grant of prior permission for a period of three years from the date of cancellation of registration,” said MoS Nityanand Rai. Actor Saba Ali Khan’s sudden marriage and divorce – a classic case of Love Jihad
MUMBAI: The cute, talented and bubbly 21-year-old actor Saba Ali Khan who has done several regional movies particularly in the South (Tamil and Telugu) and Bhojpuri is now once again back with a bang.
She has been signed on by director Maneesh F Singh for a movie inspired by the sensational and horrific murder story of Shraddha Walkar – who was murdered (and her body cut up into several pieces) by her live-in boyfriend Aftab Poonawala. Singh had announced the movie a year ago, but it hit a roadblock after a court threw a spanner into the making of the movie script. Now with all permissions in place, Singh is all set to take his project to the ultimate conclusion and begin shooting for the film next month.
Coming back to Saba Ali Khan, she is not new to controversy. The actress who has done hundreds of music videos, besides films, left a lucrative and flourishing career to get married to a businessman – something which was widely reported in the press.
However, what was not mentioned or covered later on was the fact that the actress divorced after less than 10 days of her marriage in very depressing circumstances; and while she has refused to speak about it, her close friend revealed that Saba was trapped in a Love Jihad-like situation with a fanatic man who lied to her from day one.
Luckily, her parents and family supported her and she was able to get a divorce and is now back to work. According to director Maneesh F Singh, “when I heard about her situation and divorce, I immediately decided to sign her on as the main lead for my movie, which is inspired by the dastardly murder of Shraddha Walkar that stunned the nation last year.”
For those who came in late, Singh had announced the movie last year, but was forced to put it on the back-burner after a case was filed about the privacy rights of the murder accused Aftab Poonawala. Now with the stay lifted and the case dismissed, Singh will start shooting the movie after Diwali next month, he said, adding that Saba Ali Khan has been signed on in the main lead role.

It’s confirmed! Nana Patekar to headline ‘The Vaccine War’
MUMBAI, (ANI): Filmmaker Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, on Friday, officially confirmed that his upcoming film ‘The Vaccine War’ will be headlined by none other than Nana Patekar. “At ‘I Am Buddha’ we are committed to working with the best talent of Indian Cinema.
For the vaccine war, the protagonist had to be powerful, credible and underplayed. And when we were thinking to cast somebody whose performance is unquestionable the only name we thought of was Nana Patekar. He is one of that rare breed of actors who in any role shines and who has never compromised with his craft, with his performances,” Agnihotri informed.
He added, “I am extremely glad that Pallavi Joshi (producer) and I made this choice of Nana Patekar leading the film. He has given one of the most powerful, credible, and amazing performances of his career. He surrendered himself to the script and the character which is a very very rare quality among stars. And we are so happy and delighted that Nana Patekar is acting in one of the most important films of our times. Most inspiring & honest film of our times, the most sincere and truthful film of our times The Vaccine War”. Being helmed by Agnihotri, ‘The Vaccine War’ revolves around India’s contributions in the race to produce a Covid-19 vaccine during the pandemic.
Pallavi, too, expressed happiness about having Nana Patekar on board.
“Nana is probably that rare breed of actor who is crazy about cinema. His entire focus is always on the betterment of the project. He gets so involved in the script that sometimes the lines between Nana the person and the character he plays, get blurred. Every take of Nana is different. He actually offers a buffet of choices within the given brief and parameters. This kind of commitment is a rarity in these days of quick fix fame. As an actor it makes me proud that Nana Patekar and I belong to the same profession. It was sheer magic to see his character unfold on screen with every single shot,” Pallavi shared.
Anupam Kher and ‘Kantara’ star Sapthami Gowda are also a part of ‘The Vaccine War’. (ANI)
