CHANDIGARH: Actor Rayya Labib was at the receiving end of several vulgar comments and threats after the latter shot for a film, which is said to be inspired by the life of controversial god man Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh.

Rayya along with the other cast and crew of Tribhuvan Trilok Films had recently shot for a film inspired by the life and legal battles of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, including the allegations of multiple rapes and murder against him.

The film is loosely inspired by the life of the controversial god man, but otherwise is a work of fiction, the production house has insisted. In spite of the fact that the producer called the film a work of fiction, the followers made threats and abusive comments on Rayya’s SM timelines.

The Dera Sacha Sauda chief is serving a 20-year sentence for rape and murder in Rohtak’s Sunaria Jail. He was convicted by a special CBI court in Panchkula in August 2017 for raping two women followers. The CBI had registered the case on the orders passed by the High Court of Punjab and Haryana in 2003 and took over the investigation of the case earlier registered at Police Station Sadar in Kurukshetra.

On October 8, 2021, the court convicted Rahim and four others in connection with former Dera manager Ranjit Singh’s murder case.
