Actor Madhuri Sangita Patil initiates clean up drive at Versova beach

MUMBAI: Mumbai-based 20-year-old Marathi actress Madhuri Sangita Patil along with a group of friends undertook a cleanliness drive on the Versova beach in suburban Mumbai, clearing up and collecting wrappers, plastic packets, rags, bottles and other garbage on the beach front.

Speaking to this reporter about the unplanned clean-up drive, she said since she lives around the Versova area and goes for a walk every day on the beach, it was an eyesore to see food wrappers and empty bottles lying on the beach.

“A few friends and I decided to collect whatever garbage we could and today (Wednesday) went to the beach early in the morning, for our clean-up drive. There were 5 of us in all and we managed to collected about four bags of garbage in a little above 3 hours of work in the morning. If everyone who visited the beach regularly would give at least 20-30 minutes everyday, the beach would be clean without any garbage at all,” Patil said.
