More than 100 women victims of porn racket racket in Mumbai
MUMBAI: While the Mumbai police may have a little bit to rejoice, given that the Mumbai Sessions court at Dindoshi in suburban Mumbai rejected the anticipatory bail of Yasmeen Khan aka Yasmeen Dipankar Khasnavis – the main accused in a pornography and blackmail case registered at the Charkop police station, the stark reality remains that more than 100 women are victims of the pornography racket flourishing in Mumbai and in other places in India like Kolkata and Meerut.
So far since the crackdown on OTT or APP-based porn rackets since February 2021 by the Mumbai police, about 10 to 12 women have filed complaints and FIRs were registered. But another 100-odd women who were similarity trapped by other “Yasmeen Khans” are yet to get justice and the long arm of the law is yet to nab their exploiters and tormentors.
One Yasmeen Khan is just a microscopic tip of the porn iceberg floating around in Mumbai, that slowly devours the underprivileged and poor women who don’t think twice and give in to the lucre and temptation of easy money, when their rents or electricity bills have to be paid.
