#MeToo: Singer Rahul Jain has allegedly molested or sexually abused several women

MUMBAI: After the registration of an FIR against Bollywood singer Rahul Rajendra Jain, for rape and cheating by a lyricist, several more victims are up in arms against the flamboyant singer. A woman from Indore has alleged Jain promised her marriage and had sex with her a few times. He also promised to feature her in his music videos and told her to arrange for a sponsor for Rs 15 lakh. She later on found out that Jain had similarly promised marriage to at least 3 other women. Earlier she did not file any complaint, because of the fear of being ostracized in society, but now as one vivtim has come forward and an FIR is registered in Mumbai, she will file a complaint in Indore in the coming days, it is learnt. In another similar case, a close friend of model and actress Sagarika Shona Suman, who was molested by Jain and approached her for help, after reading a news report in a popular city tabloid, will visit the Mumbai cops in the next couple of days with her written complaint.

In spite of several attempts to contact singer Rahul Jain and his family for their comment and feedback on the above allegations, they were not reachable. Our reporters left messages on their Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and other social media handles, but no reply was forthcoming. Telephone calls were futile as their phone numbers are switched off.

Jain is absconding since the last three days along with his family. He and two of his family members including his brother and mother are wanted by the cops at the Oshiwara police station in a rape and cheating complaint filed by a well-known woman song writer and lyricist-turned director and producer. Reliable sources said the Mumbai police will start proceedings to issue a lookout notice in a few days, so that the accused persons cannot leave the country.

Besides, rape and cheating, Jain is charged with various sections of the IPC. The victim has also accused Jain of not returning Rs 25-lakh which he owes her.

Police officials at the Oshiwara Police Station were not ready to comment “as the investigation in the case is at a very crucial stage and the main accused is absconding”.

As soon as an FIR was registered on Tuesday morning at the Oshiwara Police station, against Bollywood singer and music composer Rahul Jain and his family, including his mother and brother (See Here), the entire family went underground. It seems Rahul got wind of the case being registered on Sunday morning, even before the FIR was filed, and made plans to leave his Andheri Lokhandwala flat.

The Oshiwara police who visited Jain’s residence at Lokhandwala on Tuesday, found the door locked and the building security told them that the entire family had left the building premises on Tuesday evening between 7 and 9 pm with 4-5 bags.

Rahul Jain’s phones are switched off since Tuesday evening and he is untraceable. Sagarika Shona Suman said the singer is trying to apply for Anticipatory Bail for his family and himself. We have appointed a lawyer to represent the other victims and will file a joint complaint on behalf of all the victims, as some of them are married or engaged and are scared of their future life.

The cops are looking for Jain and a manhunt has been launched for the absconding singer and his family members whose names are mentioned as accused in the FIR.

Sagarika Shona Suman who is also a social worker said she has information about several women who have been sexually abused by Jain and is putting together a joint complaint against the accused to make the case stronger.

Police have already registered one FIR under sections 376 (2) N (rape with the involvement of other persons), 313 (forced miscarriage/abortion without consent of the mother/victim), 420 (cheating), 406 (breach of trust)  and 34 (common intention) at the  Oshiwara Police Station in suburban Mumbai.
