14 days jail remand till Nov 11 for Tv actor Vaishali Thakkar suicide accused Rahul Navlani

INDORE: A district court in Indore remanded Tv actor Vaishali Thakkar suicide case main accused Rahul Navlani to 14 days jail custody till November 11. He was produced in court on Friday after his 8-day police custody ended.

In the court, Rahul’s lawyers alleged that the cops at Tejaji Nagar police station beat him up and used third degree methods to extract a confession from him.

The cops in turn have alleged that Navlani was not co-operating with the probe and was taking the cops on a wild goose chase. He kept changing his statements, making new and different allegations against the deceased. He had also deleted all the data on his phones, which further angered the cops.

The court has ordered the cops to present the CCTV footage of the last few days of Navlani’s custody at the police station before the end of this month.

Navlani’s lawyers alleged that Navlani was being forced to sign a false confessional statement and that the cops used various third degree techniques to make him accept their statements.

His wife Disha Navlani who is also an accused in the case is still absconding and is wanted by the police.

The Indore police said they have enough evidence against Rahul in the abetment of suicide case and will file a charge sheet soon, They are working to retrieve the deleted data from Rahul’s mobile phones and other electronic devices.

The deceased actor’s family members have alleged that Navlani who was already married, was troubling Vaishali since he came to know about her plans to get married and kept harassing her.

Vaishali was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her house on October 15. The police found a five-page suicide note from the scene, in which Vaishali accused Rahul and his wife of harassing her and driving her to suicide. She also demanded exemplary punishment for Rahul and held him responsible for her drastic act.
