Before Building Immunity, Covid Vaccines Reduce Body Immunity For Two Months: Dr Pranav Kabra

MUMBAI:  Dr Pranav Kabra of the Raksha Multispecialty Hospital in suburban Mumbai at Malad explains why people are dying in spite of taking both doses of the Covid vaccine.

According to Dr Pranav Kabra, for vaccines to work, they have to mimic the actual virus in the body. Which means the patient becomes sick with the virus at first for a few days, though the virus component in the vaccine is an inactive virus with greatly reduced strength. When a person takes a vaccine shot, the virus component in the vaccine formulation gets activated in the body and begins to attack the body. The human body responds with the immune system which generates antibodies to neutralize the virus. This is a mini infection which is enacted in the human body. The individual thus develops anti-bodies for the infection and is able to successfully deal with further infections in future.

However, Dr Kabra explains that the human body takes at least two months to complete the cycle of vaccination and development of antibodies. During this two month period, the human body is at its lowest in terms of immunity and if attacked by a strong variant, the results can be disastrous as can be seen the case of many patients who are scumbling to the virus in spite of being vaccinated. A fully vaccinated patient needs at least two months to develop a proper immunity, says Dr Kabra, adding that the vaccine does not give any protection during this two month intial period.
