MUMBAI: The weatherman has predicted unseasonal rains in the Konkan region, including Goa and parts of Maharashtra along the Konkan coast. Even Mumbai is expected to get a few showers over the weekend, though temperatures in the maximum city are not likely to drop more than a single degree.

Some parts of Goa could experience cloud bursts or heavy rain over the weekend, but the duration of the showers will be short and residents need not worry about flooding. For the next 4 to 6 days till about next Wednesday, occasional or 2 to 3 showers every day are likely in different parts of Goa.

Rainfall will be patchy in nature, and light in intensity over the city of Mumbai and its suburbs, including Thane, Panvel and adjoining areas. It is not expected to be more than a drizzle in most areas, while one or two places could experience a few decent showers.

Clouds may persist and the city may see a few rainy spells over the weekend. These rains can be attributed to a Cyclonic Circulation down south over the Comorin region, which is causing Northeast Monsoon rainfall over many parts of South India.

This system is shifting towards the Arabian Sea. Moreover, a Circulation is already over Southeast Arabian Sea off Kerala and Karnataka Coast bringing rain to Karnataka and Goa.

Both these systems will merge with each other and result in some rains over Mumbai and adjoining areas, including parts of Konkan and Goa, the weatherman said.
