A magistrate’s court in Mumbai will hear his bail plea today (Monday) and after hearing the prosecution, orders are likely to be pronounced either on Wednesday or Thursday. The bail formalities should not take more than a few hours to a day, as it’s very likely that Kundra maybe given the option of temporary cash bail, permitting him to furnish sureties within a certain period of time, as was the case with the other accused.

It’s more of a technical or mechanical process as all the other nine accused, arrested in February and facing similar charges and sections as Kundra, were released by the trial court in April once their charge-sheets were filed.

Kundra’s lawyers moved the 37th court of the Addl CMM at Esplanade, Mumbai (also known as Killa court) on Friday, seeking regular or default bail on the grounds that the investigation pertaining to him was completed by the Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police.

The Crime Branch of the Mumbai Police filed a supplementary chargesheet against four persons, including Kundra, charging them as accused.

Kundra claimed that upon filing of the chargesheet, it was evident that the investigation against him is complete and hence he is entitled for bail.

Kundra submitted that after the primary chargesheet had been filed against nine accused, they were granted bail by the same Court.

His bail application will be heard by the Addl Chief Metropolitan Magistrate’s 37th court at Esplanade in Mumbai on September 20.
