PANAJI: A section of Hindus in Goa are up in arms against the West Bengal CM and Trinamool Congress Party chairperson Mamata Banerjee, who was in Goa last week, and have accused her of disrespecting Hindu sentiments during her visit to a prominent temple in Goa.

Former Panaji MLA Sidharth Kuncalienker said that Banerjee during her visit to the Mangueshi Temple on Friday threw Holy Water (teerth) on the ground.

The same act was done by former Goa CM Luzinho Faleiro, newly inducted member of the Trinamool Congress, as seen in video footage.

In a video footage that was shown on a local channel in Goa, Banerjee is seen throwing the teerth over her head, drops of which landed on the ground.

On social media, several Goans criticized Mamata Banerjee for disrespecting or not following the local customs of the people of Goa.
