RAIN ALERT: Orange Alert Issued For Goa Today, Yellow For Next Four Days
PANAJI: The Panaji regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an Orange Alert for Goa for Saturday and a Yellow Alert for the next four days Sunday to Wednesday the coming week, indicating the possibility of moderate to heavy rains at several places in the State, accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.
While an Orange Alert indicates a high probability or “very likely” possibility of rain at various places in the state, the Yellow Alert means “likely possibility” at isolated or scattered locations. These are technical terms and in layman’s language an Orange Alert means heavy rain is very likely all over Goa.
The IMD has issued the Orange Alert in Goa for today in view of low pressure belt over Bay of Bengal. The IMD also issued yellow alert for next four days. Squally wind and heavy rain is expected in Goa for next five days the weatherman said. The widespread rains could continue till Monday or Tuesday, with light rain continuing till next weekend.
