Heat Wave Alert in Goa, Mumbai, Konkan and Raigad regions
PANAJI: A heat wave alert has been sounded by the Met department as several places in Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Konkan regions and Goa experienced extremely high temperature (for this time of the year) in excess of 4 to 5.5 degrees Celsius.
On Monday, the capital of Goa, Panaji reported 37.8°C, which is +5.5°C above normal, in spite of the fact that the city is surrounded by water bodies on nearly three sides.
The weather man said there have been a few occasions when the maximum temperature in Panaji in March has been higher than 37.8 degrees and the latest was on 8th March 2013 when 38°C was reported.
