EC allots new names, Shiv Sena – Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray and Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena to contest Andheri East By poll
NEW DELHI: On Monday, the Election Commission of India, allotted the name ‘Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray)’ for the Thackeray-led group and the Eknath Shinde group was allotted the name ‘Balasahebanchi Shiv Sena’ for the upcoming Andheri East assembly bypoll in the western suburbs of Mumbai.
The flaming torch symbol was allotted to the Uddhav Thackeray-led Sena faction. The Shinde group has been asked by the poll body to submit a fresh list of symbols as the symbols given were not acceptable to the ECI.
Meanwhile, in the morning, the Uddhav Thackeray-led faction approached the Delhi High Court with a petition seeking to quash the Election Commission’s order freezing the party name and election symbol.
