MUMBAI: Singer, music director and composer Rahul Jain who is accused of allegedly raping a costume designer at his flat at Lokhandwala in suburban Mumbai (Read Full Story Here) has approached the Dindoshi sessions court at Goregaon East with an anticipatory bail application (ABA) which was heard today (Friday).

Jain’s lawyers had filed the ABA, praying for interim relief and anticipatory bail in FIR No. 1244 dated 11th August 2022 filed at the Oshiwara police station by a costume designer accusing him of rape. ALSO READ: Oshiwara Police fail to appear in Sessions court ABA in Rahul Jain rape case

The sessions court in Mumbai (Dindoshi Sessions Court) took on record various documents, including the vakalatnamas of the advocate for the applicant/accused Rahul Jain.

The victim-complainant sought leave of the court to intervene in the matter and an advocate representing the victim-complainant also filed an intervener application which was allowed by the court. The vakalatnama of the victim’s lawyer was also taken on record by the court.

The sessions court also took on record the “proof of service” document (receiving acknowledgement copy of ABA application given to the Oshiwara police station) by the applicant, but there was nobody present from the Oshiwara police station to represent the cops or the investigating officer.

The victim’s lawyer strongly opposed a plea by the applicant for grant of interim relief (stay on arrest or coercive action against the accused) and the same was not granted by the court.

Which means the cops can arrest Rahul Jain (if they are able to find him) at any time as there is no stay by the court.

The matter has been adjourned to 6th September for the “Say” (report) of the APP (Assistant Public Prosecutor) and the IO (Investigating Officer) and for further “hearing”.  To follow the entire proceedings of this case CLICK HERE
