BJP confident of a 4th term: Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor on MCD polls
NEW DELHI: Speaking about the move of the Centre to merge the three municipal corporations in Delhi and the ensuing polls to the civic body, BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor said, “Once all modalities are completed under the unified corporation, the elections will happen at the earliest.”
Along with unification of the corporations, the financial issues or should I say financial crunch the MCDs have seen in last 8 years also needs to resolved, he stated.
We have several achievements to show and we are sure people will give us a 4th term, Kapoor asserted, when asked about the expectations of the party from Delhiites.
Meanwhile, the Union Cabinet on Tuesday gave its consent to a bill that aims to merge the three municipal corporations in Delhi, sources said.
According to media reports, the amendment act provides for a unified Municipal Corporation of Delhi by subsuming the existing three corporations.
The Delhi Municipal Corporation (Amendment) Act, 2022, is likely to be introduced in the ongoing Budget Session of Parliament.
