Aryan Khan unlikely to get bail today: Special NDPS court may reject Aryan Khan’s bail application
MUMBAI: In a news update that could bring in disappointment and sadness to thousands of Shahrukh Khan fans across the world, not to forget the anxiety and grief to the family and Aryan Khan’s siblings Suhana and AbRam, the chances of SRK’s eldest son Aryan Khan being granted bail today (Wednesday) by the Special NDPS Court of Sessions are very slim. It’s almost a 91% (no bail) to 9% (chances of bail) situation right now.
This is because the matter has become very high profile and controversial, with political parties and politicians at the highest levels in the fray, not to forget the media frenzy surrounding the issue of bail, that the trail court, which is hearing the bail applications, may shy away from wanting to be seen as accused-friendly, or simply to steer clear of any controversy over granting of bail. At such a stage, when the matter is “heated up like molten lava from an erupting volcano”, the lower or trail courts prefer to be seen as prosecution-friendly, rather than accused friendly.
Besides there are 20 suspects in all, who have been arrested in the same FIR till date and intermediate to commercial quantities of drugs have been seized from them. Further, though not distinct and clear, there seems to be a blurred line of association or vague connection between all the accused and the trial court may want to give the investigating agency (the NCB) some more time to investigate the case and pursue all angles and leads.
Further, the court may consider the situation wherin if Aryan Khan and one or two of his friends, were granted bail at this stage, all or most of the accused may be able to claim for bail on grounds of parity, putting the NCB investigation in jeopardy. Aryan Khan may have to suffer further undertrial judicial custody for a few more days, for the other accused who were arrested with drugs on their person, so that the overall investigation is not hampered.
It is very unlikely that Aryan Khan may get bail today. The odds are very low and chances are very slim.
Most probably, Aryan Khan’s bail application may be rejected and he would have to continue to stay at the Arthur Road Jail for another week at least. Or the trial court may adjourn the case and further reserve the matter for orders at a later date, either this weekend or next week.
Aryan Khan and his other associates would in this scenario, if the bail was rejected, approach the Bombay High Court for bail, within the next two days.
