ALERT: Very Heavy Rain Expected In Goa Over Next 2 Days
PANAJI: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Goa for July 8 and 9 and every heavy rain is expected in the coastal state over the next 2-4 days.
Flooding is expected in certain areas if there is continued heavy rainfall and residents are advised to stay indoors and avoid commuting to avoid getting stuck in floods.
The government has ordered schools (for classes 1 to 8) to be closed for the next two days – 8th and 9th July. However in a circular, the Goa government said that classes for students of 9 and 10th will continue as usual.
Extremely heavy rainfall exceeding 204.5mm is very likely at isolated places over Goa on July 7 and 8 the IMD had said in its earlier bulletin.
Very heavy rainfall exceeding 115.5mm is likely at a few places from July 7 to 9 and at isolated places on July 10 and 11.
