While Aftab Poonawalla was addicted to ganja or cannabis, girlfriend Shraddha Walkar also smoked weed or a doob

NEW DELHI: The investigation by the Delhi police in the Shraddha murder case has revealed that while the alleged murderer Aftab Amin Poonawalla was addicted to Cannabis or ganja, and required a daily fix of at least 3-5 cigarettes, his live-in girlfriend Shraddha Walkar also occasionally smoked weed with him.

According to India Today, Aaftab Ameen Poonawala told the Delhi Police officers during interrogation that he was under the influence of marijuana on the day he murdered his live-in partner Shraddha Walkar, sources said.

Shraddha has also admitted to her friends that Aaftab was addicted to drugs, but did not mention what he was taking.

On her social media posts Shraddha has made a couple of mentions of smoking a “joint” or “doob”. A “doob” is a slang for a marijuana cigarette.

On May 4,  Shraddha posted a reel: “After a long tiring day of travelling 1500 kms i decided to end my day with a view, possibly a sunset. Walked down to the banks of Ganga in Vashisht gufa. Who knew that this was a calling for me, sitting at the absolute serene banks of Ganga, smoking a doob and getting lost in its beauty. [sic]”

While “cannabis” refers to all products derived from the plant Cannabis sativa, “marijuana” refers to parts of or products from the plant Cannabis sativa that contain substantial amounts of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

The cannabis plant contains about 540 chemical substances. According to another definition, cannabis describes cannabis products in general, marijuana specifically refers to cannabis products that are made from the dried flowers, leaves, stems and seeds of the cannabis plant.
