VIDEO: Kirit Somaiya original uncensored, unedited, raw viral sex video clip in a compromising position?

Update 1530 hrs: Speaking on the Kirit Somaiya’s alleged video incident that has taken Maharashtra politics by storm, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced in the Legislative Council on Tuesday (July 18) that in former MP Kirit Somaiya’s viral video case, the entire matter will be thoroughly investigated at the senior level, and that no one will be spared. We will conduct an indepth and high level investigation into the matter, Fadnavis said.

MUMBAI: Even as Kirit Somaiya, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader and former MP, urged Maharashtra deputy chief minister Devendra Fadnavis to investigate allegations of harassment levelled against him and verify the authenticity of video clips of him going viral on social media, the entire episode has raised a huge political storm with the media going overboard in the matter.

A purported video, claiming to be of Kirit Somaiya in a ‘compromised position’, went viral after it was aired on a Marathi news channel on Monday. The Marathi channel has blurred out portions of the video, but the uncensored, unedited video which is already viral on the internet and various social media platforms can be viewed here.

The viral video triggered sharp reactions and comments from Social Media and particularly Twitter users wihch surfaced on social media, and also led to a protest by Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena faction (UBT) and Sharad Pawar’s Nationalist Congress Party (NCP).

A ‘chappal maaro andolan’ was held in Mumbai by opposition parties, while the NCP youth wing said it will carry out a clothes donation campaign for Kirit Somaiya.

A leader of the UBT faction said on Tuesday that Kirit Somaiya should be sacked from the party, which claims to be for the development of women.

Dismissing the viral video as fake and all the allegations, Kirit Somaiya took to Twitter and wrote, “A video clip of me was shown on a news channel. Claimed that I have harrassed many women & many such video clips available & complaints received against Me [sic]”.

The incident has sent massive shock waves across the country’s political landscape. For the last 20 years or more, Somaiya was very vocal against corruption and in 2003 was part of the JPC (Joint Parliamentary Committee) probing the Harshad Mehta and Ketan Parekh stock market scams.

Video editing experts claimed the “fake video” was made using “Deep Fake AI” technology and there are several freely available apps and software that can do this. This is common practice for fun and even kids are using these apps to create morphed videos for Instagram and other social media platforms like Snapchat. Only this time it has been used to target a big political leader said a former police official with the Mumbai cyber crime cell.

“This is not new. There are several such apps easily available on Google Play Store and the original template video must be that of a body double or some other video of Somaiya which has been morphed using “Deep Fake” technology to create the  visual impact that is seen in the clip broadcast by the Marathi channel,” said an IT forensic expert involved in checking the veracity and authenticity of such videos of celebrities and actors in Hollywood.
