Tunisha Sharma suicide: Sheezan M Khan remanded to 4 days police custody

MUMBAI: A court in Vasai has remanded actor Sheezan Mohammed Khan to four days in police custody in the Tunisha Sharma suicide case. Sheezan was booked for abetment to suicide under section 306 of the Indian Penal Code after Tunisha’s mother mentioned his name in the FIR registered after her daughter’s reported suicide.

Arguing against further police remand, Sheezan’s lawyer told the Magistrate’s court that the police did not have any evidence. Allegations are made against him, he said. However the police stated that a detailed probe is yet to be conducted and Sheezan’s custodial interrogation is required as he has been changing his statments.

Tunisha Sharma’s co-star, who died by suicide on the sets of her TV show on Saturday, Sheezan M Khan was arrested by the Waliv police station of the Maharashtra police, after her mother filed a case of abetment to suicide. Sheezan and Tunisha featured opposite each other in their TV show Alibaba – Dastaan-e-Kabul and were reportedly dating each other, when Sheezan broke of the relationship recently.

Tunisha Sharma was dumped and ditched by her boyfriend Sheezan Mohammed Khan with whom she was in a relationship with.

While on the sets, during the break, Tunisha went to Sheezan’s changing room and tried to patch up with him. He flatly refused and said he did not want to continue the relationship, which caused a sudden attack of depression and she took her own life.

When the police questioned him, he first said there was never a relationship and denied any personal or intimate relationship with Tunisha Sharma, only maintaining that they were good friends. However, when the police found some intimate or personal photos on the mobile phones, Sheezan again changed his statement. This is why the police immediately arrested him.

Actor Rayya Labib who knew Tunisha, while responding to news reports that Tv actor Tunisha Sharma was not pregnant and died due to suffocation caused by hanging, questioned if there were vested interests who were suppressing the possibility of the pregnancy angle and changing the narrative.

Rayya demanded that the police should investigate both the possibilities – suicide and murder. “The doctors should conduct further tests including chemical or viscera analysis and conduct further tests to determine if she was really pregnant or not. One must not rule out anything at this stage, because Tunisha was not new to the film industry. She may be 20 or 22 years of age, but she has been acting since the time she was a child and was not a novice or a fresher. It is very surprising that she would commit suicide just like that,” Rayya said.

On Saturday evening Rayya told this reporter that Tunisha looked “depressed and worried when she met her last.
