Sonali Phogat consumed drugs on several occasions in the last one year

PANAJI: Late actor and politician Sonali Phogat, who passed away recently in North Goa, ostensibly due to a drug overdose, had consumed or tried drugs on several occasions in the last one year, according to her PA and associate Sudhir Sangwan who is now under arrest and in judicial custody remand.

Sangwan has claimed that Phogat was almost addicted to drugs, but her family members have alleged that it was Sangwan who got her into the drug habit by initially secretly mixing drugs in her food and drinks.

Sudhir Sangwan has reportedly told the Goa police that Phogat was addicted to drugs and used to often do drugs secretly.

“Her family did not know about her drug habit. She used to do drugs on the sly without the knowledge of her family. Her family blamed me for introducing her to the drug habit, but the fact is she herself wanted to experiment and try drugs to experience a big high,” Sagwan is reported to have told the Goa police.

He has alleged they took a flat on rent in a Gurugram society to conceal her drug habit from her family. She wanted to get away and enjoy herself in private, Sangwan is alleged to have said in his statement.

In a confessional statement to the Goa Police Sangwan claimed that Phogat ordered MDMA (Meth) and her health deteriorated after an overdose as the drugs were either too strong or adulterated with some other dangerous substance.

In the latest development, Phogat’s brother has now accused BJP leader Kuldeep Bishnoi of murdering his sister. The allegation was made by Rinku Dhaka at the Sarv Khap Mahapanchayat which was held in Hisar.
