Singer Rahul Jain denies rape allegations, says victim is “planted”

MUMBAI: Singer, music composer and music director Rahul Jain has denied the allegations of rape against him. He also claimed that the ‘victim’ could be a “plant” by another woman with whom he had a problem and financial dispute earlier. Jain said the allegations and complaint is baseless. “This is a totally fake case. I have complete faith in the law and the courts. I will get relief from the court,” Jain said.

When contacted by PTI, Jain told the news agency, “I don’t know this woman. The allegations raised by her are fake and baseless. Last year too a woman made similar allegations against me, but I got justice. This woman may be an associate of that woman and the two are trying to extort money from me,” Jain said.

As per news reports, the Oshiwara police in suburban Mumbai, registered a First Information Report (FIR) on 11th August against Bollywood singer-composer Rahul Jain for allegedly raping a 30-year-old woman freelance costume stylist at his flat in Mumbai, an official said on Monday. FIR No. 1244 dated 11th August 2022 was registered under IPC sections 376 (rape), 323 (causing bodily harm), 504 and 506 (giving of threats to cause bodily harm) against the popular singer. ALSO READ: Singer Rahul Jain moves court for anticipatory bail in Dindoshi Sessions court

In her statement recorded at the Oshiwara police station, the complainant said Rahul Jain contacted her on Instagram and praised her work. He asked her to visit his flat located in a high rise in suburban Lokhandwala at Andheri assuring that she will be appointed as his personal costume stylist, a police official said quoting the FIR.

The woman visited Rahul Jain at his flat in August. He asked her to accompany her to his bedroom under the pretext of showing her his belongings and raped her, the official said.

According to police, the woman works as a freelance costume stylist.

The woman stated that Rahul Jain assaulted her when she resisted him. He also tried to destroy evidence.

Police registered the FIR under sections 376 (Punishment for rape), 323 (Punishment for voluntary causing hurt) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code against Rahul Jain, the official said.

No arrest has been made so far.
