Rakhi Sawant arrested by Amboli Police in suburban Mumbai on Sherlyn Chopra’s FIR, may be produced in Andheri court tomorrow?

MUMBAI: After a Sessions court at Dindoshi in suburban Mumbai rejected the Anticipatory Bail application of drama queen Rakhi Sawant yesterday, she was hauled up to the Amboli police station (near Jogeshwari in suburban Mumbai) by the Mumbai cops and is likely to be arrested.

Since the sections applied in the case are non-bailable, Rakhi Sawant will be taken to the Andheri Magistrate’s court at Andheri East and will have to apply for regular bail from the court tomorrow morning.

UPDATE: Rakhi Sawant was not arrested by the Amboli police. She was taken in for questioning in the matter and her statement was recorded. She was allowed to go home after few hours of questioning and recording her statement. Read more here.

Sherlyn Chopra and Rakhi Sawant’s war of words has been making news for a long time, ever since #MeToo accused Sajid Khan entered the Bigg Boss house.

While Sherlyn was against his participation in the popular Tv reality show, Rakhi backed the director-filmmaker.

Sawant was detained by the Amboli Police on Thursday in relation to a FIR (CR No. 883/2022) that Sherlyn Chopra had filed against her.

The Amboli police had registered an FIR u/s 354(a),504,506,509 of the Indian Penal Code and Section 67 (A) of the Information Technology Act.

After the registration of the FIR, Rakhi Sawant had approached the Dindoshi Sessions court with an Anticipatory Bail Application No. 1870 of 2022 which was heard and deliberated at length and was finally rejected by the court yesterday.

The Amboli police who registered the case, acted promptly and hauled up Rakhi to the station, where she was questioned in the case. She will be formally arrested and presented before the Addl. CMM at the Andheri East Magistrate’s court tomorrow, where she is most likely to get bail as there is no recovery and all the evidence is already with the police.

There is a chance that though the provisions and sections are non-bailable, Rakhi Sawant may manage to secure bail at the police station, though this is very much unlikely.

This means that Rakhi Sawant will have to spend Thursday night at the Amboli police station or the women’s lockup in “police custody”.
