Mumbai porn racket is over Rs 200 crore annually, alleges actor Madhuri Sangita Patil
MUMBAI: Commenting on an FIR filed by the Charkop police against former model, Bhojpuri actor-turned director and producer Yasmeen Khan in a porn racket case, social worker, theatre artiste and model Madhuri Sangita Patil said the porn racket in Mumbai alone is over Rs 200 crore.
According to her, the Mumbai police did a good job in 2021 to bust the OTT porn business and even formed an SIT to go deeper into the matter.
“However, the shakeup in the Mumbai police force, particularly the Mumbai Crime Branch, post the Sachin Vaze matter caused the pornography probe to go into the cold storage,” Madhuri said, adding that Yasmin Khan alone who is named in the FIR at the Charkop police station was running a Rs 10 crore annual business through her OTT APP Hothits.
“After her arrest on 4th February 2021 by the Property Cell of the Mumbai Crime Branch and subsequent release on bail, she changed the names of the APPS and re-launched them since the beginning of this year – 2022,” Madhuri alleged, demanding a thorough investigation into the porn business that forces unsuspecting women from small towns who are first offered huge amounts of money, then cheated and conned into shooting for apps which will “not be shown in India”, only to find their images and videos plastered all over social media.
Pan-India, the porn and adult movie business runs into several hundred crore and one estimate pegged it at about Rs 3900 crore.
Madhuri claims she was given several offers with huge payouts over the last three years to act in “bold” films and videos by unscrupulous coordinators and casting directors, but she turned them down.
