Meerut: Bike-borne chain snatchers stopped by brave girl, nabbed after encounter

MEERUT: The two bike-borne chain snatchers who tried to steal the earrings of a young woman have finally been caught after an encounter, while they were trying to flee. Their names were given as Shivam and Sachin. More details are awaited.

According to Times Now, a clip posted on Twitter showed a girl from Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut bravely confronting two bike-borne snatchers who were trying to flee with her earnings.

The CCTV camera surveillance footage, taken from a nearby building, shows the brave woman pulling the two bike-born miscreants down to the ground in a bid to get back her stolen earnings.

She grabbed one of the men by his arm as he made desperate attempts to get on to the pillion seat and make a getaway.

As bike rider throttles, the woman refuses to let go of the pillion rider.

According to media reports, on Saturday, Santosh Devi (80), a resident of Modi Nagar was going to the market with her granddaughter Riya.

They were accosted and attacked by two bike-borne thieves who tried to snatch Satosh Devi’s earrings.

However, the brave girl held the motorcycle with her hand even though she was dragged a short distance and both thieves fell off the vehicle.

In a video, one can see both courageous women trying to overpower the thieves and fighting with them, while shouting for help. Unfortunately nobody helped them and the robbers managed to make a getaway.

Meanwhile, the Meerut Police arrested both the accused. The incident happened in the Lalkurti Police station jurisdiction and action was taken in just six hours after the incident which was caught on CCTV, Meerut police said on Twitter. During the encounter, both the accused got bullet injuries on their leg while trying to escape.

SP Meerut City Piyush Kumar said both the accused have been identified as Sachin and Shivam Soni. Read more here
