Manish Sisodia’s bail plea rejected by SC: Approach Delhi HC first says apex court
NEW DELHI: Delhi deputy CM and AAP leader Manish Sisodia’s bail application was rejected by the Supreme court, which advised his counsel to first approach the Delhi High court.
“Our doors are open, but we are not inclined to entertain your plea, the apex court said,” advising Sisodia’s legal team to first approach the Delhi High court.
“It will set a very bad legal precedent. You have all the legal options available to you,” the court told Sisodia’s counsel, while declining to hear the matter.
In a major setback, the Supreme Court on Tuesday turned down Sisodia’s petition seeking bail and dismissed his bail application, challenging his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in the liquor policy case. The Supreme Court asked Sisodia to approach the high court, saying that there are enough legal remedies available with him at this stage.
Manish Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on Sunday, after several hours of questioning and produced before a court on Monday. He was sent to 5-day CBI custody by the trial court.
