Inspired by Agnihotri’s ‘The Kashmir Files’, Chef-turned-scriptwriter Sonya Kaur starts work on ‘The Gujarat Files’
MUMBAI: Buoyed by the hype and buzz of Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files, Mumbai-based chef and home cook-turned film-maker and script writer Sonya Kaur has started work on a new project which she has termed “The Gujarat Files”.
According to Sonya, a fan of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who has tried her hand at script writing in the past, there is so much garbage (in the guise of truth) floating online about the Gujarat story. “I want to give people a different version, which 90 per cent of people are not aware of. I have started writing the story, the script. We hope to hit the floor, by May,” Sonya claimed, stating that its just a thought, which she has started working on.
“The Gujarat Files” is just a tentative, working name. Right now it’s just a thought or a concept. My team and I are working on it and the project is likely to evolve over a couple of weeks,” Kaur explained.
“I had done some extensive research on the Gujarat disturbances for a media OTT company about 3 years ago. The project which was to be made into a web series was shelved due to the Covid pandemic. I am just trying to revive that project, using my own money,” Kaur said.
