HYDERABAD: The police along with the narco unit (H-New) of the Hyderabad city police have told a local court that Hill Top restaurant (Vagator, North Goa) owner John Stephen D’souza aka Steve was running a network of interstate drug peddlers who were selling drugs in the city at clubs and nightspots and even direct to consumers after sourcing it from him.

According to the documents submitted to the court seeking his custodial interrogation, the  Hyderabad Narcotics Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) said Steve would purchase drugs in bulk which came from different parts of the country and in turn then sell them to peddlers who worked for him.

His peddler network would carry the drugs to various parts of Maharashtra and South India, normally travelling by local non-AC buses or even ST buses to avoid detection. The peddlers would deliver the drugs and collect the payment from the consumers.

Days earlier the Hyderabad police in a tweet said: “Our Police and the Hyderabad Narcotic Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) proceeded to Goa and apprehended a drug peddler, John Stephen Dsouza, who was attempting to sell drugs in Habsiguda. He was caught with 20 Ecstasy pills, 5 LSD blots, 4 gms of MDMA, a mobile phone, and cash. #SayNoToDrugs.”

The same was reiterated at a press conference organized by the Hyderabad cops. They have alleged that Steve was caught red-handed with drugs which were seized from him, after specific information was obtained from arrested Goan drug peddler Pritesh Narayan Borkar.
