Heavy to very heavy rains expected between Sept 12-15 over Mumbai, Goa, Konkan, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg etc.

MUMBAI: According to private weather forecaster Skymet Weather, rain has intensified over South Konkan and Goa and over parts of Marathwada.

The Low Pressure Area (LPA) over the West Central Bay of Bengal will travel in a westerly direction and may intensify into a well-marked low. A trough will extend from Konkan and Goa to the well-marked low-pressure area bring in heavy rain to several parts of Konkan including Goa and Mumbai.

There will be a significant increase in rain activities over many parts of the state from September 11. Heavy to very heavy rain may occur over South Konkan and Goa and South Madhya Maharashtra on September 11. Places like Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Sangli, Satara and Kolhapur may receive heavy downpours.

North Konkan and Goa and Madhya Maharashtra including Mumbai will receive heavy to very heavy rain between September 12 and 15.

Mumbai may witness a deluge doing this period. Many areas of Mumbai and suburbs as well as North Madhya Maharashtra may witness 3-digit rainfall leading to widespread waterlogging and flash floods in the capital city.

Rain will start reducing from September 16. This may be last heavy spell of this monsoon season over Mumbai and Maharashtra.
