Goa: Traces of drugs found as Shiva Valley shack and restaurant raided by Anjuna Police
PANAJI: According to official sources, the Anjuna police (in North Goa) raided the Shiva Valley Club and Restaurant near the beach and in the vicinity of the popular Anjuna flea market and seized various incriminating materials including used disposed syringes having traces of narcotic drugs or drug-laced papers and cigarette stubs.
The Shiva Valley Restaurant and Shack has been in the past accused of allegedly going slow or even permitting its patrons and guests to do drugs on its premises and property and the locale is known as a meeting point for both peddlers and drug users. It is also known world-wide for the allegedly drug-fuelled trance and EDM parties both during peak season time as well as off season.
The Anjuna Police under the supervision of SDPO (Mapusa) Jivba Dalvi raided the Shiva Valley restaurant on Saturday, the Goa police said in an official statement.
According to an ANI report as per SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi, in continuation of the investigation of the NDPS case wherein Anjuna Police Station has arrested one Suraj(29) n/o Bengaluru, Karnataka and Kalidas @ Kali Naik, r/o Anjuna, both accused were thoroughly interrogated and valuable inputs obtained.
During the custodial interrogation the accused disclosed that drug-related activities were going on at the Shiva Valley restaurant at Anjuna.
Accordingly, a search warrant was obtained, a team was formed, comprising of a Scientific Assistant, a dog squad and staff of the Anjuna Police Station and the premises was raided.
During the raid, many incriminating materials were seized for further and detailed forensic examination wherein it is suspected they are having traces of drugs.
SDPO Mapusa Jivba Dalvi said, “Seized articles will be sent for chemical analysis to identify and find out if any drugs are detected and based on the scientific report action will be taken against the owners and manager of the said restaurant.”
The team was headed by PI Prashal Dessai, Scientific Assistant, PSI Sahil Warang and staff of Anjuna Police Station, news agency ANI said in its report.
Sources who spoke to this website, said the management of the Shiva Valley Restaurant had prior information about the raid and an attempt was made by the staff to destroy evidence of drug consumption and drugs found on the premises were destroyed by flushing them down the toilets. Patrons consuming drugs or smoking doobies at the restaurant where forcibly evicted by the staff, minutes before the raiding party arrived.
