Goa to get rains around mid December between 12 to 15
PANAJI: Goa could expect some rains during mid-December between the 12th to the 15,16th of the month
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a low-pressure area has formed over the south Andaman Sea. The low pressure area has formed under the influence of a cyclonic circulation over the south Andaman Sea and adjoining equatorial Indian ocean Strait of Malacca.
The associated cyclonic circulation extends up to mid-tropospheric levels and could develop into a cyclonic storm.
As per the IMD, the low pressure area could move west-northwest and form into a depression over the south east Bay of Bengal by December 6 evening, depending on favourable conditions.
“Thereafter, it is likely to continue to move west-northwest wards and intensify further gradually into a cyclonic storm and reach southwest Bay of Bengal near north Tamil Nadu-Puducherry and adjoining south Andhra Pradesh coasts by December 8 morning,” the IMD said.
Rains could be expected over South India and could even affect Goa, sources said.
The IMD further informed that a feeble western disturbance is likely to affect Western Himalayan Region from December 7.
Under its influence, isolated light to moderate rainfall likely over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh and Himachal Pradesh on December 8.
