Extortion, blackmail and defamation complaint filed by Raksha Hospital, Charkop Naka against local goons
MUMBAI: The management of the Raksha Multispecialty Hospital located at the Charkop Naka at Malad west in suburban Mumbai, today filed a complaint for extortion, defamation, criminal intimidation, criminal conspiracy and various other offences at the Malwani police station, against some unknown goons as well as others masquerading as journalists, RTI activists and social workers.
The concerned individuals who are trying to malign the name of the hospital and harm its reputation as well as harass the doctors and staff in a criminal conspiracy, do not have any statutory registration with the concerned authorities like the I&B Ministry, the Press Information Bureau (PIB) or the Registrar of Newspapers (RNI).
According to a written complaint submitted to the Malwani police station by the hospital authorities – a copy of which has been accessed by this website, the extortion attempts have been going on for the last two months.
The complaint names some individuals as well as other unknown persons for blackmail, extortion, criminal defamation, criminal intimidation and other offences under the Indian Penal Code as well as the Information Technology Act .
The Mumbai police who are busy with the Ram Navami rallies in various parts of the city are looking into the complaint, we have learnt.
“Fake and highly defamatory news articles in unrecognized or illegal websites are being circulated on WhatsApp and other social media platforms by vested interests who have been demanding money from us for the last few months. We ignored it at first, but now have decided to take legal action against the offending websites, publications and individuals involved,” said a spokesperson for the Raksha Multispeciality Hospital.
A Malwani police official confirmed that they have received the written complaint and are investigating the matter. A spokesperson for the Raksha Multispeciality Hospital said there have been attempts at extortion, blackmail, criminal intimidation, criminal defamation and criminal conspiracy for the last two months.
