Curbs, Night Curfew, Partial Lock Down Likely In Goa Post 2nd Jan
PANAJI: Though Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said there would be no curbs or lock down in Goa during the festive season of Christmas and the New Year, curbs and night curfew are likely to return to the coastal state and be imposed in Goa from the 2nd of January next year as soon as the festive season comes to a close.
According to a PTI report, an experts’ committee on COVID-19 set up by the Goa government today suggested some restrictions in the coastal state to curb the pandemic, including night curfew if the numbers rise.
The experts’ committee is headed by acting Dean of Goa Medical College and Hospital Dr J P Tiwari.

We have recommended restrictions be imposed. Since the emergence of omicron variant, it was recommended if the positivity rate crosses 3.5 per cent, then night curfew should be imposed,” Dr Dhanesh Volvoikar, a member of the committee, told PTI.

Across the country, as Omicron cases rise, most states have announced some restrictions, including night curfew and curbs on entertainment and hospitality biz.
In Goa, the state’s task force for COVID-19, headed by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, will meet on Wednesday to deliberate on the recommendations of the experts’ committee, an official said and may announce some restrictions, including curbs on restaurants, gyms, salons and other spaces where crowding can occur.
