Bones found in Mehrauli forest belong to Sharadha Walkar, DNA matches with her father: Delhi Police

NEW DELHI: The Delhi police investigating the Shraddha Walkar murder case today said that the bones found in the Mehrauli forest area belong to Shraddha Walkar and the DNA in the bones matches that of her father whose samples were taken by the cops for DNA testing.

Shraddha Walkar was killed by her live-in boyfriend Aftab Poonawalla in May 2022 and her body was chopped into 35 pieces and dumped in various parts of the Mehrauli forest. Her skull is yet to be found.

In an investigation that kept the nation on toes, the police located several parts or pieces of the bones allegedly belonging to Shraddha Walkar and sent them for DNA testing to confirm if the bones were the mortal remains of the murdered woman.

Initial results of the DNA test which were available today confirmed that at least some of the bones belonged to Shraddha Walkar, thus confirming that that the woman was murdered and her body parts dumped into the forest by the killer.
