BMC staffer Shivaji Koli aka Shivaji BMC aka Nilesh Kamble arrested by Charkop police for molestation

MUMBAI: A man claiming to be working for the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) was placed under arrest at the Charkop Police station, after an FIR was registered against him by a woman for outraging her modesty, causing hurt, threatening to cause grievous harm and other related sections of the Indian Penal Code.

The police registered FIR No. 0830 of 2022 u/s section 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman), 323 (causing hurt), 504 and 506 (giving threats) of the Indian Penal code against the accused Shivaji Koli aka Shivaji BMC aka Nilesh Kamble aka Nilesh Jadhav, late on Friday evening.

The name of the victim has been withheld as per Supreme Court of India guidelines concerning crimes against women. The accused is also said to have attempted to rape the victim on several occasions by blackmailing her with certain personal photos, taking advantage of her financial status as a single mother.

The said Shivaji Koli aka Shivaji BMC aka Nilesh Kamble aka Nilesh Jadhav has also cheated several job aspirants by promising them jobs in the BMC.

After the initial FIR for molestation, etc., was registered against the accused and the police began their investigation other matters came to light.

The said accused above-named has taken varying amounts from several individuals from Rs 50,000/- to Rs 7 lakh, promising them various jobs in the Municipal corporation.

The accused who lives at Marve Road, Malad claimed he worked for the political party MNS (Maharashtra Navnirman Sena) and used his political clout as well as his BMC job to convince job aspirants to part with varying sums of money.

He used different fake identities and made fake BMC id cards to impress people of his post and designation. He also boasted of several cars and a bungalow at Madh Island and a flat at Malwani.

He claimed he can provide allotment of MAHADA flats on payment of a certain initial amount and has conned aspirants by charging his initial amount “service fee”. When the aspirants failed to get the promised flats, Koli said he was not bound to return the amount as it was a non-refundable service charge.

The accused Nilesh Kamble aka Shivaji Koli is married and has two children, but told women he was single and also tried to hoodwink women into relationships by flaunting a four-wheeler vehicle (also obtained by fraud and deceit). He later used intimate photographs with the women to blackmail them into paying him varying sums of money.

Women with financial problems and single mothers looking for work and livelihood were trapped by the accused who falsely claimed to earn a handsome salary from the BMC. ALSO READ: Conman Shivaji Koli aka Nilesh Kamble dupes several job aspirants in Mumbai promising BMC jobs

The Charkop police under the supervision of Senior Inspector Manohar Shinde are investigating the case. More complainants are likely to come forward, as the accused has conned several persons in the guise of providing them BMC jobs and MAHADA flats during the Covid-induced lock down in 2020 and 2021.

One source pointed out that the accused has cheated more than 50 people of a total sum of nearly Rs 80 lakh. Further investigation is ongoing. This is a developing story.
