MUMBAI: A women’s right’s activist Shreha Dhargalkar who originally hails from Goa, while speaking to some reporters on Friday took on the cops at the Oshiwara police station at Andheri West in suburban Mumbai for not being able to track and nab singer Rahul Jain who is absconding for the last 3 months.

It may be recalled that this is the second victim who has filed a rape case against music composer Rahul Jain in the last one year. Last year a lyricist had filed a rape case against Jain, but he managed to get bail.

“Jain’s anticipatory bail application was rejected by a Sessions court at Dindoshi in Mumbai and in spite of three months having passed, the Mumbai police are not able to find Rahul Jain who is a known face and known personality,” Dhargalkar said, adding that it just means that the Oshiwara police have “accepted a huge bribe” to sit quietly and do nothing.

Jain has approached the Bombay High Court in an anticipatory bail application (ABA) but has not been granted any relief by the court. The ABA (ABA/2611/2022) which came up on Friday for admission before a Single Bench of the Bombay High Court of Justice (Smt) Bharati Dangre has been adjourned to the 21st of November.

Dhargalkar questioned why the Mumbai police, which otherwise prides itself on being one of the best police forces in the world, is not able to track down Rahul Jain. Who is protecting music director Rahul Jain, some politician or the Mumbai Police, Dhargalkar asked?
