As Falerio’s exits from Congress, his rival and ex-Sports Minister Avertano Furtado walks in

PANAJI: A day after former CM and Navelim MLA Luizinho Faleiro walked out of the Congress, former Sports Minister in the previous BJP-led coalition government Avertano Furtado joined the party on Tuesday.

Faleiro resigned from both the legislator-ship and the party’s primary membership. He is likely to join Mamata Banerjee’s party tomorrow in Kolkata, along with another leader from Ponda Lavoo Mamledar.

Furtado, an arch rival of Faleiro, joined the Congress in a formal function at the state Congress headquarters.

While Furtado was elected from Navelim in the 2012 state assembly polls, he lost to Faleiro in the 2017 state assembly elections.
