Air-India Pilot-Tv Actress Rape Case: Police Help Accused, 48 Hrs After Written Complaint Submitted, Oshiwara Cops Fail To Record Victim’s Statement

Mumbai: In a startling scenario, more than 48 hours have passed since the complainant victim Tv actress submitted a written complaint of rape, cheating, breach of trust and criminal intimidation to the Oshiwara Police Station, but no action has been taken as yet.

No FIR has been registered as yet and the police are still to summon the rape victim and record her statement. According to sources at the Oshiwara police station, investigations have started but since they are short-staffed due to Covid-19, the victim has been asked to come only on Monday to record her statement.

Pratibha Singh, President of an NGO Bharatiya Nari Adhikar which is helping the rape victim told this reporter that the police are helping the rape accused Air India Pilot Akshat Sethi who is well-connected politically and was flying top leaders of a right-wing political party before joining Air India.

The NGO has claimed that the police are going slow on the case, because the accused is connected to a right-wing political party, which is currently in power at the Centre and the accused was the personal pilot for the top leaders of the right-wing political party. The concerned political party leaders have influenced the police at the Oshiwara Police Station not to register the case, the NGO has alleged.

The police do not want to register the case and are simply buying time. Or maybe they are giving the accused pilot Akshat Sethi enough time to go in for anticipatory bail, the NGO has alleged.

According to the written complaint filed by a well-known and popular Bollywood and Tv actress residing at Lokhandwala in suburban Mumbai, she has accused a 33-year-old Air India pilot Akshat Sethi (33) of alleged rape and unnatural sex, besides breach of trust, criminal intimidation and cheating.

The complainant actress/victim has submitted a written complaint to the police at Oshiwara Police station which was accessed by IndyaTv.IN, and the cops are investigating the case.

A senior police official at the Oshiwara Police Station confirmed that they have received the complaint and are looking into it.

The alleged rape accused pilot Akshat Sethi originally hails from Bhopal, but is now living in Mumbai, at Veera Desai Road, Andheri West.

The concerned pilot was earlier flying private jets for Corporates and also flying political leaders of a right-wing, national political party and has flown almost all the top politicians in the country in the capacity as a personal pilot.

The accused Akshat Sethi is well-connected politically and hails from a political background. His social media timelines are full of photos with senior politicians and Ministers.

The Tv actress (whose name cannot be revealed as per SC guidelines) has been in the Bollywood industry both as a model and an actress for nearly the last 10 years and has done more than 30 films in the South film industry, including Tamil, Telugu and Kannada films, besides print shoots and other advertisement shoots.

She has appeared in Tv serials on prominent channels having done main lead and second lead roles in various Tv serials.

According to the written complaint filed with the police, which was accessed by IndyaTv.IN, the Tv actress met the pilot Akshat Sethi on a matrimonial site called Better Half. She wanted to get married and settle down and her family had asked her to search for a groom. So she had created a profile on the matrimonial site, she has stated in her complaint.

Speaking to IndyaTv.IN, the victim actress said: “I was searching for a suitable groom as my family was keen that I get married and settle down. Accordingly, both my family and I were looking for a match and I had created a profile on a well-known matrimonial website. I met the accused person online about a month ago and we became friends. I had made my intention clear to the accused that I was only keen on marriage and nothing else. We had been in touch with each other on phone and chat for the last one month. The accused was in Bhopal all this while. He came down to Mumbai on Sunday and visited my home for a meeting. Unfortunately, there was nobody at my place at the time. The accused convinced me that he was ready to marry me and even said that he was ready for the nuptials within the next 1.5 months. He told me to go ahead with the marriage preparations and make all the bookings. We discussed marriage and the formalities in detail at my home at Lokhandwala in Mumbai. The accused then tried to get physically close to me and managed to coax me to have sex with him. I was not ready to have sex at the first meeting, but the accused almost forced me to have sex by fully taking the initiative and forcibly undressed me. I too got carried away and since we had been discussing marriage with all the minute details and arrangements for the last one month, I gave in unwillingly and the accused had sex with me without any protection 3-4 times at my home – albeit without my complete consent. I only gave in unwillingly because the accused had promised marriage and even  finalized all the arrangements. He had convinced me totally that we were getting married within 1.5 months and said we would fly to Bhopal to meet his family the next day. He even allegedly had unnatural sex with me forcibly wherein he pinned me down on the bed using great force.  I meekly submitted as I was keen on marriage and did not want to do anything to jeopardize the marriage, which was finalized,” the victim disclosed.

According to the victim’s written complaint, which has been accessed by IndyaTv.IN, the accused began avoiding her from the next day onwards (Monday) and made excuses to meet her.

“He avoided me on Monday and Tuesday and I began to smell something fishy and went to his house. Then he told me point blank that he was not interested in marriage for various reasons and he did not want to keep in touch with me at all. I tried to plead with him to try and make things work and that we should stay as friends and see how things work out, since just two days earlier he had finalized all the marriage arrangements and had sex with me on the presumption that the marriage was finalized and that we were getting married after 1.5 months. However, the accused flatly refused and began denying everything. He asked me to get out of his house and literally pushed me out. He even threatened to kill me, if I came to his house again. Since then, two days after having forcible sex with me on the pretext of marriage, the accused blocked me on Whatsapp and phone and is now not meeting me or even taking my calls,” the victim has alleged. The victim Tv actress in her complaint has stated that she was conned and forced into having sex with the pilot, who clearly had no intention to marry her from the very start and was only using the matrimonial website with a dishonest intention and intention to cheat gullible women to sleep with him on the pretext of marriage.

He made me feel that we were already married. He said he was taking me to meet his family and parents the very next day. He told me that as a pilot of so many years, he did not even have to book tickets as they were given flight coupons for personal travel, the victim told IndyaTv.IN.

The victim has also alleged that the accused threatened her with dire consequences and death if she tried to make a noise about the matter. He boasted that he knows every politician in the country and has flown Prime Ministers and Presidents in his career as a pilot. He said he has many women who sleep with him because of his power and contacts and that I was only small fry for him and he could just wipe me off the face of the earth with a mere swipe.

He even tried to deny that we had sex or that he had forcefully and without my consent penetrated me and had unnatural sex with me without my consent. Joh karna hein, woh kar lo, he said and pushed me out of his house, the victim alleged.

The police are verifying the facts and details mentioned in the complaint and will register an FIR within the next 24 to 48 hours.
