MUMBAI: Blasting the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for selectively filing replies to the bail applications of the accused in the cruise ship drugs bust, senior NDPS advocate Ayaz Khan, said it was the first time in his career spanning 29 years as an NDPS lawyer, that an Additional Solicitor General (ASG) has appeared for the prosecution in police custody matters.

Adv Ayaz Khan, appearing for accused Nupur Satija, said that although he filed the bail application for his client before Aryan’s was filed, the NCB still has not filed its reply. The court said NCB will file its reply by October 20.

According to Ayaz Khan, “Aryan Khan filed his bail application at 5.30 on Friday. I filed at 11 in the morning on Friday but still they have not replied to my bail plea. At least ask them to file a reply by tomorrow,” he requested the court.

Adv Ayaz Khan claimed that the NCB is picking and choosing, which applications to entertain first, which is not correct. “The NCB should reply to applications on first come, first served basis and not as per their whims and fancy,” he fumed.
